Embracing a new way of consuming
Before MateCaps came to life, we had one thing in mind: this project had to be sustainable and respectable to our environment. We’ve made it and we want to tell you how.

One of the main reasons of environmental degradation and pollution is that most companies base their production on a linear model: they take what they need from the ground, then produce deliberately regarding the unconscious demand, and encourage users to use it just enough and then to just simply throw it away. However, we all know that nature doesn’t produce goods for us to turn them into trash.
This current management, production and consumption model is only taking into account short-term goods and services but it is hard to deny that it is utterly unsustainable for the environment in a not-so-long-term.
At MateCaps, we want to be different and to make a difference.
MateCaps’ sustainable model
When MateCaps was nothing but a dream, we started to brainstorm what we wanted our product to look like, to feel like, how to deal with the global lack of resources using them in a conscious way and what footprint we wanted to leave behind.
First, we thought that it was of paramount importance to minimize the use of resource inputs and to reduce the creation of waste to the bare minimum. Second, we want to encourage our users to reuse the product as much as possible; and finally one of our main goals is to regenerate resources for nature by recycling what’s left; i.e, we follow the reduce-reuse-recycle model. For us, the main focus should be on the social and environmental benefits.
We have born all these aspects in mind in the sustainable production process and put them into action in our loop.
MateCaps loop
We take environmental care very seriously and we are aiming at taking it into account in every step we take and every decision we make.
On the one hand, we respectfully take only what we need to produce our yerba mate caps. Second, our multi-use bottle is made of polypropylene, stainless steel, silicone; all of them fully recyclable materials and, of course, is totally reusable. Furthermore, we turn waste into a resource since the Caps are compressed loose leaf Yerba Mate blends, which reduce 28.5% of gas emissions and are 100% compostable and able to nourish your soil. Putting the expression “nothing is lost, everything is transformed” into practice is a way of contributing to the change. Last but not least, our packaging is 100% plastic-free.
To give the loop a “closure”, we need you - all of you. You might be wondering how you can help. One option is by making compost with the caps and giving the organic material back to Earth. So, the real question is… Are you in?
We know that turning the environmental problem around and making greener decisions is not an overnight change. However, we truly believe that if we, yourselves included, work on reducing, reusing and recycling, it definitely contributes to create a sustainable and better future for everyone.
